Mrs. Mac’s Shining Stars’ Primary School teaches kindergarten through fifth grade in Georgetown, TX. We provide a solid academic foundation that encourages children to grow in their faith and grow as Christians. Our curriculum is a challenging Christian-based curriculum that encourages academic excellence in all programs. The curriculum is based on Abeka, and exceeds the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Experienced elementary teachers teach all core subjects, including Bible, Language Arts, Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
Enrichment programs in Computer, Spanish, PE, Art, and Music are also provided. The curriculum also includes daily Bible instruction and weekly song service and worship. Learning experiences are enhanced by fun and engaging monthly field trips and activities. Technology is integrated into learning wherever possible by including computers, iPads, and interactive whiteboard learning.
Our students enter public school and stand out among other students, both academically and as leaders in the school and community. While maintaining high standards, we strive to provide a solid academic foundation while nurturing and challenging students to develop their Christian faith.

In kindergarten, students become better acquainted with Bible stories, prayers, and songs of praise.
In Language Arts, first graders are able to write in complete sentences, capitalize the first word of a sentence and of the days of the months, recognize and punctuate different types of sentences correctly, know the use of suffixes and prefixes, and alphabetize words. Leveled reading uses small-group instruction and developmentally appropriate books, which helps ensure success for reading fluency and comprehension.
First Grade Math curriculum includes hands-on activities and interactive whiteboard lessons that promote problem-solving skills that help build a strong foundation in mathematics. Our math program engages the students as it strengthens their understanding of math concepts. Problem-based interactive learning and visual learning help deepen conceptual understanding by incorporating visual tools to help students be better problem solvers.
First Grade Science encourages children to investigate and learn concepts that help them develop knowledge of the ability to use tools, skills, and methods of scientific inquiry to learn about the world around them. The content includes units on science inquiry, force, motion, energy, earth, space, and organisms, and their environments.
In first grade, students learn about their relationship to the classroom, school, and community to learn how to be responsible citizens in society. Students begin to develop concepts of time and chronology, identify anthems and mottos of the United States and Texas, create simple maps, and explore concepts of goods, services, and the value of work. Students also learn about people who exhibit good citizenship, describe the importance of family customs and traditions, and identify how technology has changed family life.
In Bible, students learn stories of the Old and New Testament, and The Ten Commandments. Students hear Bible stories rich in characters and events that show God's glory and goodness and memorize scripture.
Second Grade Language Arts continues to reinforce concepts learned in first grade, including punctuation, compound words, rhyming words, antonyms, synonyms, contractions, and singular possessive words and plurals. By the end of the year, students’ reading comprehension skills are sharpened and they are writing more clearly, correctly, and concisely.
In Second Grade Math, students build a foundation of basic understandings in number, operation, and quantitative reasoning, patterns, relationships, and algebraic thinking, geometry and spatial reasoning, measurement, and probability and statistics. By the end of 2nd grade, students know basic addition and subtraction facts, and are using them to work flexibly, efficiently, and accurately with numbers during addition and subtraction computation.
In Science, children investigate and learn concepts that help them develop knowledge of the ability to use tools, skills, and methods of scientific inquiry to learn about the world around them. The content includes units on science inquiry, force, motion, and energy, earth, space, and organisms, and their environments.
In Social Studies, Second Graders focus their study on the local community. They develop concepts of time and chronology, consumers and producers, functions and services of government, customs, symbols, and celebrations that represent American beliefs and principles.
In Bible, students learn stories of the Old and New Testament, and The Ten Commandments. Students hear Bible stories rich in characters and events that show God's glory and goodness and memorize scripture.
In Third Grade Language Arts, students learn and practice daily phonics and penmanship, including cursive writing. Students increase their thinking skills, improve reading comprehension, and develop creative writing abilities. Students will continue to strengthen their reading, writing, and oral language skills.
In Math, the primary focus is multiplying and dividing whole numbers, understanding fractions, and using the language of geometry and measurement.
In Science, children investigate and learn concepts that help them develop knowledge of the ability to use tools, skills, and methods of scientific inquiry to learn about the world around them. The content includes units on science inquiry, force, motion, and energy, earth, space, and organisms, and their environments.
Third Grade Social Studies teaches how diverse individuals have changed their communities and world. They develop an understanding of the economic, cultural, and scientific contributions made by individuals. These skills are supported by text including biographies, poetry, songs, and artwork.
In Bible, students learn stories of the Old and New Testament, and The Ten Commandments. Students hear Bible stories rich in characters and events that show God's glory and goodness and memorize scripture.
In Fourth Grade Language Arts, students continue to learn and practice daily phonics and penmanship, including cursive writing. Students increase their thinking skills, improve reading comprehension, and develop creative writing abilities. Students will continue to strengthen their reading, writing, and oral language skills.
In Math, students focus on comparing and ordering fractions and decimals, applying multiplication and division, and developing ideas related to congruence and symmetry.
In Science, children investigate and learn concepts that help them develop knowledge of the ability to use tools, skills and methods of scientific inquiry to learn about the world around them. The content includes units on science inquiry, force, motion, and energy, earth, space, and organisms, and their environments.
In fourth grade, students examine the history of Texas from the early beginnings to the present within the context of influences of North America. Historical content focuses on Texas history, and important issues, events, and individuals of the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries.
During daily devotionals, students continue learning stories of the Old and New Testament, and The Ten Commandments. Students hear Bible stories rich in characters and events that show God's glory and goodness and memorize scripture.
Through daily devotional and prayer, students explore the stories of the Old and New Testament and their life applications. Students also attend weekly song service where they gather to sing songs of praise and school-wide group devotionals. Christian Character is reinforced daily, encouraging students to be kind to one another, be responsible for their actions, choose their friend's wisely, explore your God-given talents, serve one another, and put your faith and trust in God.
The Reading and Language Arts curriculum is designed to encourage reading through a variety of literature. Students are expected to develop vocabulary skills, comprehension strategies, and writing skills. Students will compose a variety of written texts with a central idea, organization, and detail. Students read and write daily in order to strengthen their reading, writing, and oral language skills.
Through a well-balanced math curriculum, students continue to build their basic math foundations and understandings as guided by the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. By the end of the school year, students are knowledgeable in basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts, and are able to apply them to more difficult computation skills. Problem-solving and real-life applications are the basis of all content areas in mathematics. Students use technology, mathematical tools, and manipulatives to develop a better understanding and solve meaningful problems in mathematics.
In Science, students are engaged through an inquiry-based approach to learning which includes learning through hands-on investigations and problem solving using the scientific method.
Ms. Barnett has blessed Mrs. Macs for 20 years. She has an Associate’s Degree from Austin Community College in Child Development. Ms. Barnett started working with Mrs. Mac in high school as an afternoon teacher at another employer. She joined Mrs. Mac as a "Shining Star" in 1998, when it first opened. Ms. Barnett taught Pre-K for 2 years and has been teaching Kindergarten for the last 18 years.
Mrs. Huf feels blessed to join the Shining Stars family. She has taught Kindergarten for the past 9 years. Mrs. Huf is a graduate from Texas Woman's University. She is looking forward to building a relationship with each of her students & families.
Mrs. White has been with Shining Stars approaching her seventh year. She continues to be a blessing and an asset to our children and faculty. Her devout faith has been influential to the classroom environment. Her credentials include a BA in Christian Education.
We are blessed to have Ms. Audra as our 3rd grade teacher. This is her fourth year at Shining Stars, where she has also previously worked as a Kindergarten Assistant Teacher. Ms. Audra is a graduate of Southwestern University. Ms. Audra enjoys sharing her enthusiasm for learning with her students as they learn and grow.
This is Mrs. Campbell’s first year at Mrs. Mac’s Shining Stars. She is super excited to be here in a Christian education environment. Mrs. Campbell has fourteen years teaching experience. She graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor’s degree in 2007.
Ms. Stoops is excited to teach 5th grade at Mrs. Mac's! She graduated from Texas State University in 2009 with a BA in Early Childhood and Elementary Education and has worked at Shining Stars for 17 years. Mrs. Stoops’ goal is to ensure that each student has a motivating and fulfilling learning experience in the classroom.

My name is Allison Barnett. I have been teaching at Mrs. Mac’s Shining Stars for 27 years, and teaching Kindergarten for 26 years. I hold an Associate’s of Applied Science Degree in Child Development. In my off time I enjoy reading, shopping, and dinner with friends. I am the Mom to my Fur baby Bentley.
My name is Trenee Williams. I have been teaching at Mrs. Mac’s Shining Stars for 25 years. 6 of those years I was teaching Kindergarten/1st graders and taught preschool ages for 19 of the years. I have a 26 year old son name Marquis, who attended Shining Stars through Kindergarten. In my spare time I enjoy reading, event planning, crafting, and binge watching 90 Day Fiance. I hold an Associate’s Degree in Biology. Now I am Private First Grade Teacher.
